Mussoorie In 24 Hours

Mussoorie has always been close to Contended Writer’s heart, and she made sure that it becomes close to mine too. And it did! We have already travelled to Mussoorie three times in 2 years and have already planned a trip for 2018. Did I tell you, Contended Writer’s grandparent’s house is in Dehradun? Hence, so many childhood memories and she makes sure to tell all the childhood stories whenever we visit a particular place in town.

Let me tell you if nothing is working out in your life and you need some clarity, head to Mussoorie. The place has that type of effect on people.

So, if you want to visit Mussoorie for a short getaway, refer this article. From best places to eat to best places to visit, you will find everything here. Read on:

7:00 AM Reach Mussoorie from Dehradun and then head to Chaar Dukaan in Landour for a hearty breakfast. Pancakes, Maggie, Oreo Shakes, chocolate dripping waffles, and their famous lemon tea will blow your mind.

Pro Tip: There is always waiting at Chaar Dukaan so you can go to Cafe Ivy to click some amazing valley picture for the time being and sheesha.

The food is so delicious that you will savour every bite and mind you, it will take more than an hour to finish the breakfast.
After breakfast, take a long scenic walk to reach Lal Tibba, the highest viewpoint in Mussoorie. Witness the breathtaking panoramic view of the valley and the Dhanaulti Ranges.

Complete the circle by walking back to Chaar Dukaan and before getting into your cab, visit St. James Church to enjoy the solitude and peace.

11:00 AM Reach back to the Mall Road and take stroll exploring the markets. You can also buy cheap woollen goods from the Tibetan Market.

12:00 AM Head to Kempty Falls. Located 15 km from Mussoorie, the place is one of the finest waterfalls in India with water cascading from an altitude of 1370 m. A narrow winding staircase will lead you to the plunge pool where you can enjoy the cool water of the pool.

2:00 PM After returning to Mussoorie, have lunch at Chic Chocolate on Mall Road. One of the oldest and most famous cafes in Mussoorie, the place serves mouth-watering Kit Kat shake, pizza, chocolate waffles, nachos, fruit cream, different shakes, dark chocolate shots and more. If you are looking for something to take back home, buy the sticky jaw toffees and liquor chocolates.

You have 5 hours that you can spend strolling around, resting at the hotel, or exploring amazing places such as Gun Hill, George Everest’s Home, and the Company Gardens.

7:00 PM It’s dinner time and you would not want to miss dinner at Kalsang Friends Corner. It is the best place to enjoy Tibetan, Chinese and Thai cuisine in Mussoorie. Kalsang is on everyone’s travel list when visiting Mussoorie and as you enter this place, you will be welcomed by red printed wallpaper with messages, Tibetan prayer flags, Chinese ceiling lamps and red-uniformed staff.

After your dinner, you can walk back to your hotel or head back to Dehradun to head back home.

Pro Tip: If you are visiting Mussoorie on a Saturday, you will get an opportunity to meet Ruskin Bond at Cambridge Book Depot located just opposite Kalsang. This is exactly what Contended Writer and I did on our first visit, got a lot of books signed by him (fangirl moment) 🙂

Great and concise guide to Mussoorie. Incidentally, I love Char Dukan and Lal Tibba as well. I prefer to wind it by walking through the entire length of Camel back road.
